Mario Camacho

Sensei Mario is a Sandan (3rd degree black belt). He has been envolved with judo since stepping on the mat his Senior year at Ball State University in 1991. At that time Ball State Judo was a physical education class and he also participated in Judo club. When leaving Ball State he earned the rank of yellow belt and continued his judo journey. This lead him to earning his current rank and becoming a USA Judo certified International Gold Coach. He is also the current Indiana Judo President starting in 2024 and the head Sensei for the Ball State Judo club and Fishers YMCA Judo club in Fishers, IN.

In 2019 Sensei Mario was awarded the Indiana 2019 Coach of the Year Award by Indiana Judo.

Hokushin Judo Assistant Coaches

J.C. Camacho

J.C. is a Nidan (2nd degree black belt) and a recent graduate of Ball State University. She has been an assistant coach with the Ball State Judo Club for the past 6 years. In 2022 she earned her Regional Coaches certification from USA Judo. Her 15 years of experience helps other students with the traditional and competitive side of Judo. J.C. has had the opportunity to compete all around the country and internationally. She has placed and won several Junior National Championship titles earning the honor to compete for the US at the 2017 Cadet World Judo Championships in Santiago de Chile, Chile - 40kg and 2017 IJF Junior World Judo Championships in Zagreb, Croatia - 44kg. Includng this honor she has also earned Player of the Year for USA Judo in 2014, 2015 and 2017. This has also given her the chance to train with USA Judo Olympians at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado and San Jose State University. She was awarded the Indiana 2019 Senior Female Player of the Year Award by Indiana Judo.
